EFT Tapping is a gentle tool for easing stress & rewiring painful memories
Self-help: EFT Tapping gives you a tool to ease stress whenever you need it - literally at your fingertips
Gentle tapping on acupressure points on the face and collarbone sends a calming signal to the brain and helps move you out of ‘fight-or-flight freeze’. Most people can learn to use it.
Feeling anxious while waiting to see the dentist? Tap to feel calmer and think more clearly.
Mind racing? Tap to calm those thoughts down.
Wating for an interview? Tap to calm nerves and think more clearly.
Deeper work & bigger issues: EFT Tapping is a valuable tool for rewiring painful memories
So many issues can stem from stressful life events! From anxiety (often but not always), to fears and phobias, and difficulty sleeping, to trauma, depression, eating disorders (have underlying emotional triggers) to unhelpful beliefs about ourselves that we learned early in life (‘I am not lovable’, ‘I am too much’, ‘I am not enough and do not deserve love’, ‘I must focus only on other people’s needs to be loved’, ‘I am stupid /not capable’, etc.)
A pracitioner can help you tap on those painful memories so that memories become simply memories, and no longer have power over how you feel.
How can stressful life events cause issues?
For example, you might have a fear of dogs, but it is unlikely you were born with that fear - something happened along the way. Perhaps a neighbour’s dog chased you when you were a child... Perhaps a close family member was bitten by a dog...
Whatever happened, it was stressful - and that stress was not fully processed out of your system at the time. The result is that any situation that feels similar to that time the neighbour’s dog chased you triggers internal alarm bells. (Your brain simply wants to keep you safe.) You might know that, logically, most dogs are safe - but you still feel fear and stress when you see one!
For many people, EFT Tapping is a way to effectively neutralise the memory that is the root of the fear (or the anxiety, or PTSD, or sleep issue, or other). When done gently and thoroughly, that person will likely find that they can meet dogs now without that unreasonable fear or stress. They might even discover they like dogs!
What about other issues?
The same goes for a fear of flying, a fear of public speaking, past traumatic memories still affecting you today, beliefs based on experiences when you a child (‘I am not lovable/not enough/stupid.’) and much more. If the root memory(ies) can be identified, it is likely that change is possible.
You do not need to know the root memory(ies) before a session. It is quite possible - even likely - they will ‘pop up’. There are techniques for that. (Your brain will usually know when and why something started - it is simply filed away somewhere.)
Don’t take my word for it.
